SMILE
We're thrilled to be the one and only laser center in Saskatchewan to offer SMILE!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SMILE?
- Minimally invasive -The procedure is completed through a 2mm incision in the cornea! Therefore, less tissue damage and inflammation leading to less pain, scarring and recovery time.
- Less Side Effects - Thanks to the minimally invasive nature of SMILE, this procedure keeps pesky dry eye at bay, a notorious side effect of laser vision correction.
- Flapless - This procedure is carried out without creating a flap in the cornea, therefore, leaving the cornea stronger with reduced risk of long-term complications, especially for patients with active lifestyles.
- Fast - It's a speedy procedure, clocking in at just 30 seconds or less, and the results? Crystal clear vision!
- Quick Recovery - You can resume your daily routine within a few days of the surgery with minimal downtime.
- Comparable results to LASIK - Compared to traditional LASIK surgery, SMILE can offer a number of benefits for the right candidate including less discomfort, faster healing time, and reduced risk of complications!
HOW IS SMILE PERFORMED?
SMILE is an all-in-one laser treatment with 3 simple steps for a completely bladeless and flapless procedure.
A lenticule and small incision are created inside an intact cornea - all in one step.
The lenticule is removed through the incision with only minimal disruption to the corneal biomechanics.
Removing the lenticule changes the shape of the cornea, thereby achieving the desired refractive correction.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS AFTER SMILE?
After undergoing SMILE, it is important to follow certain expectations to ensure proper healing and optimal vision correction results. Firstly, it is recommended to avoid rubbing or putting pressure on the eyes for at least a week after the surgery. Patients should also avoid swimming and any contact sports for 1 week to prevent any damage to the eyes. Additionally, it is important to attend all post-operative appointments with your eye doctor to monitor progress and address any concerns. With proper care and attention, patients can expect to enjoy improved vision and a more comfortable daily life after undergoing SMILE.
At Sask Laser, our highly trained staff and experienced surgeon are dedicated to providing the best possible care and outcomes for our patients.
